Walnuts
Our Hartley and Chandler walnuts are available at the Atascadero Farmers market, Wednesdays 3-6 PM starting in October. We have them in shell or shelled. Come on down to try some really fresh local walnuts, bet you can't eat just one. We usually sell out by February so don't wait. Store them in the freezer.
Garlic/Shallots
We grow several varieties of garlic including elephant garlic (really a member of the leek family but everybody calls it elephant garlic). We grow shallots also, they look like small onion but the taste is so much sweeter. We have several soft neck garlic varieties (sometimes called "Silverskin", "Artichoke" or "Italian") and a few stiff neck garlic, or "Ophio" varieties. These are available at the Wednesday Farmers market in Atascadero as well as the Saturday Farmers market in Templeton.
Sweet Corn
Our corn comes to market in late July and lasts until the first frost, usually October. We grow only Burpee seeds, not GMO, and later in the season we can prove it, there will be worms at the end of the ears. Who would want to grow a corn that kills the worms? If it is not good for them I can make some assumptions about whether or not it is good for us to be eating.
